July 7th NWCA Meeting IN PERSON and Zoom!

Great News! NWCA is going back to in-person meetings with the enhancement of also offering Zoom for those who can’t (or don’t wish to) attend in person. Please note the change in location. Agenda

The next meeting will take place on July 7th at 7:00 PM at Northwest Church of the Nazarene (5707 Olentangy River Rd.). If you would like to attend in person, please come. If you feel it would be safer or you otherwise would like to continue to use Zoom to attend, that will be accommodated, too.

This will be our first time attempting this type of hybrid meeting structure, so it should be interesting. We expect this to be a short meeting. We will not have a speaker and will have a couple of variances to hear. Join us to meet the new trustees!

WHAT:

The Saunders PR Group will present residents’ feedback gathered from a community survey, focus groups and a series of virtual town halls during this hearing. This feedback will determine Council’s work to Reimagine Public Safety. 

Nearly 4,000 residents participated in the community survey, providing essential feedback on how Council can invest in community safety and continue to build trust between the community and law enforcement. Additionally, residents submitted hundreds of ideas during the town halls and The Saunders PR Group conducted more than a dozen focus groups. The hearing will include testimony from community members representing four groups – older residents, youth, people with disabilities, and New Americans. 

Any resident seeking to submit written testimony should submit their testimony to the office of Council President Shannon G. Hardin. Written testimony must be received by 2pm on the day of the hearing and should be emailed to Zak Davidson at zgdavidson@columbus.gov.

Any resident wishing to appear via WebEx to provide testimony during the virtual hearing should email Zak Davidson at zgdavidson@columbus.gov by noon on the day of the hearing to request a WebEx speaker link. Each speaker will be limited to remarks lasting no longer than three minutes.

This hearing will be livestreamed and posted on the City of Columbus YouTube channel following the event.

Our speaker will be Betty Blockinger, the Volunteer Services Manager for Columbus Recreation and Parks. She coordinates volunteers who help with park beautifications throughout the city as well as volunteer coaches, tutors and mentors. She will talk to us about how we can set up a volunteer group to help keep the new Sheep Farm park on Case Road in good shape.

• 1674 Ramblewood Ave. – Variance to keep an existing fence over a sewer easement.
• 6051 Sawmill Rd. (Chick-fil-A) – Update site plan to extend the building along with installation of two free-standing canopies over the drive-thru.

It’s also time to begin or renew your membership in NWCA. It’s only $15.00 ($30.00 for associate memberships). All memberships are for the calendar year. Only members vote on trustees during our annual meeting in late Spring.
