Cheryl Grossman – President, Website/Communications Chair
Cheryl R.S. Grossman is an activist who has worked on campaigns for petition drives and candidates. She does social media and other communication tasks for several local groups., and was an early member of the NWCA sheep farm committee. Her work life has included stints in a veterinary hospital, retail, stocking in a grocery store, writing for a youth development project, evaluating and writing grants, and library public and technical services. She received a BA from the Ohio State University and an MLS from Kent State University. Current term ends: June 30, 2022
Amanda Gibbs- Vice President, Zoning Committee, Student Trustee Chair
Originally from Medina, Ohio, Amanda has lived in Columbus since 2002 and moved to northwest Columbus in 2008. She was elected to the Northwest Civic Association in 2018. She is a graduate of The Ohio State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. She currently works in the Ohio State College of Medicine Grants Management Office where she helps researchers apply for grants. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys traveling the world with her husband, attending Broadway Across America shows and Ohio State football games, or relaxing at home with her two cats. Current term ends: June 30, 2022
John Guroy – Treasurer, Code Enforcement Committee Chair
John is a lifetime resident of northwest Columbus. He is a graduate of Centennial High School and has an Associate Degree in Science that included course work in Fire Sciences. As a member of Columbus Firefighters Local 67, he has participated in contract negotiations and the Mutual Aid Response Committee. John owns Guroy Lawn Care, a lawn care and landscape business serving both commercial and residential properties. Current term ends: June 30, 2023
Marilyn Goodman – Graphics & Zoning Committee Chair, Airport Chair
Marilyn was the President of Northwest Civic Association in 2009-2010 and chaired NWCA’s Candidate Night from 2008-2010. She lives in the Riverside Green neighborhood. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Xavier University in Cincinnati. She became a psychotherapist and served as Executive Director or CEO of four nonprofit behavioral healthcare organizations. Seeking a new career in the law, Marilyn received her Paralegal Certificate from Capital University Law School in 2007. She worked as a Paralegal at Hexion Specialty Chemicals, Ohio Legal Rights Service, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and JPMorgan Chase before retiring in July 2017. Current term ends: June 30, 2023
Roy Wentzel- Secretary, Sheep Farm, Recreation & Parks Chair
Since returning to Columbus, Roy has worked/volunteered for numerous charities including Habitat for Humanity, The Hunger Alliance, Mid-Ohio Food Bank, The Northwest Counseling Center/Syntero, The Clintonville Resource Center, Our Lady of Guadalupe and is a board member of Avanza Together. Roy was recently appointed to The Community Advisory Committee of MORPC. With a great desire to make an impact on our local community, Roy has truly enjoyed getting involved with the NWCA, and has had great success with the The Friends of The Historic Sheep Farm. Roy was the 2018 recipient of the NWCA Mildred Henderson Award for volunteerism. Current term ends: June 30, 2023
Steve Donnell- Streets and Safety, Blockwatch
Steve Donnell grew up in North Central PA and has been living in Columbus since 1977. He and his wife of 41 years have two children and one grandchild. Steve is retired but keeps busy with part time work. He has worked as a licensed OHSAA football official for almost 30 years up until 2014 and is currently an assistant football coach at Centennial High School. Steve is president of the Rittenhouse Square Condo Association and has assisted NWCA with presentations to the City. Current term ends: June 30, 2023
Todd Hunkins, Social/Membership Chair
Todd grew up in Columbus and graduated from the Columbus Public Schools, Columbus State and Franklin University. He has been involved in property management and maintenance for over 35 years working in areas of single and multi-family housing, commercial and industrial management. I believe the only way to treat people is with honesty, morals and integrity and there’s only one way to do a job and that’s the right way without compromise. I feel my vast experience from maintenance, leasing, managing a staff of 10 employees and working directly with budgets and other facets of property management would make me a good fit on the board. I have served on the NWCA Membership Committee and am honored to be a NWCA board member. Current term ends: June 30, 2022
Kori Mulligan, Zoning Committee
Kori is a graduate of Capital University Law School and has worked with homeowner and condo associations as a paralegal and attorney. She has been a member of NWCA’s Zoning Committee for about a year and has begun working on communications. She feels it is important to volunteer her time to help her community thrive. She wants to reach more people in the area to keep them informed about what is going on in the Northwest corridor and to have a say in development happening in the area. Current term ends: June 30, 2023
Samuel Simoes
Pastor Simoes has a Doctor of Ministry in community and neighborhood transformation and serves as lead pastor of Northwest Church of the Nazarene on Olentangy River Road. He has been on the board and advised multiple community groups in Missouri, West Virginia, and Massachusetts and worked with not-for-profit organizations dealing with impoverished communities. He has been a community representative for Ridgeview Middle School since 2019. His passion is to find different ways to bring unity to neighborhoods and has seen great things happen when community leaders are intent on improving the well-being of their neighbors. Current term ends: June 30, 2023
Stacy Swanson
Stacey has been the Treasurer for the Misty Meadows Civic Association since 2013 and administers their Facebook page. She wants to have more insight into our community and to maintain a safe and beautiful neighborhood that residents want to call home. She would also like to see more community effort toward events, volunteering, and fund-raising. She is a REFIT dance instructor and has an associate degree in early childhood development. Current term ends: June 30, 2023
Monica Dorman Tuttle, Zoning Committee
Monica Tuttle and her husband live in the Knolls with their two dogs. Monica received her Juris Doctorate in 2004 from Michigan Law and moved to Columbus the following week. She started her own law firm, Dorman Law LLC, in 2008. In her spare time she volunteers as a docent at the Columbus Zoo and is an active member of 5 book clubs. She has been a member of the zoning committee since Fall 2019. She would like residents to look to NWCA as a reliable source of community information in addition to voicing the insights and concerns of the members it represents. Her goal is to expand NWCA’s involvement in individual neighborhoods throughout the area, including Cranbrook and the Knolls. Current term ends: June 30, 2022
